Who belongs to the Allen Parent Council? Allen’s principal, teachers, and the entire community of parents and guardians make up Allen Parent Council. All are welcome to attend meetings and work together to provide all Allen children the best learning experience possible.
- Academic excellence for all students
We volunteer our time and talents to raise money to purchase educational and enrichment programs and materials that directly benefit students. All of these efforts build our sense of community with one another and enhance our children’s experience at Allen. Field trips to:
University of
Wild Swan Theater Hands On Museum Scarlett Pond and Woods
Chelsea Milling (Jiffy Mix) Plant in
Buhr Park Pool
New Playground Equipment New Library Furniture Outdoor picnic tables, benches, trash receptacles Landscaping materials Upgraded Audio System for the Great Room Library Books School Assemblies Science Olympiad
Movie nights, Silent Auction, Kids’ Art Ware sale, Spring Plant Sale—and no cost fundraising (cards and scrip pre-loaded with money and spent at local grocery and other stores with a percentage coming back to Allen— free of cost to you and Allen).
Attend the meetings: they are held the third Thursday of every month from 6:30 to 8 p.m.. Parent Council hires responsible teens to provide school aged childcare and recreation in Allen’s Great Room so that parents can attend these meetings. Stay informed about what’s going on at Allen by reading the newsletters sent home in your child’s back pack every week. Parent Council meeting minutes and news are published in the newsletter and at this website link http://allen.a2schools.org/allen.home/our_newsletters. Volunteer your time and talents so that our fundraising events are all successful and we build an open, diverse, learning community for all students. Purchase fundraiser items. Donations are also always welcome. Contact your room parent to find out if classrooms have been assigned specific Parent Council tasks (the contact information for room parents is listed in the front of the school directory that is distributed at the beginning of the school year).
Start small or jump right in—ways to help come in all sizes!
